1. What is Improved Cookstoves?

ICS – Improved Cookstove. This cookstove replaces traditional chullas with health benefits and impacts the environment with CO2 & firewood reduction. It also saves on cooking time and has a high thermal efficiency (i.e. fuel input and heat output).

2. What fuel is used?

PELETS - Pellets are a type of solid fuel made from compressed organic material. They are usually small, cylindrical in shape, and have a high energy density. Pellets can be made from various sources of biomass, such as agricultural waste, energy crops, untreated lumber, coconut or groundnut shells, cow dung, etc.

3. How to use Cookstove?

Fill in 2.5 Kg of Pellets into the Cookstove (below the level of secondary air hole outlets). Pour 10 to 15 drops of diesel over the pellets to help ignite them, then light a matchstick for ignition.

4. Can we refill pellets in cookstove during operation?

NO. Avoid adding pellets during burning to minimize smoke.

5. Can we fill lesser than recommended amount of pellets in cookstove?

YES. As per your cooking requirements, lesser than recommended pellets can be used.

6. Why is there a Battery for the cookstove?

The cookstove is a forced Draft Improved cookstove which requires external air for complete combustion, resulting in no smoke while cooking. The cookstove has a battery to operate the fan that is attached to the cookstove. The fan is used to regulate the airflow inside the cookstove chamber.

7. When to charge the cookstove battery?

The battery can be used for up to 6 to 7 days once charged. An alarm is provided with the battery, which will sound when it needs to be charged, and should be charged with the charger provided.

8. How to remove ash & clean the cookstove?

The cookstove has an ash tray inside the combustion chamber. The ash tray hook provided along with the cookstove should be used to remove the ash tray along with the ash to dispose of it. Later, clean the cookstove with a dry, clean kitchen cloth or kitchen towel.

9. What is the Cookstove Warranty?

There is a one-year warranty for the cookstove (with 6 months warranty for the battery and other electrical parts).

10. What is the weight capacity for the Cookstove?

The cookstove weight capacity is up to 100 kg of food.

11. What will be the maintenance for Cookstove?

There is only maintenance for the battery after 1 year. The battery is easily available everywhere and can be fixed at home. A video on how to replace the battery can be found on our YouTube channel.

12. Is the cookstove safe?

Yes, the cookstove is very safe. It has undergone extensive testing to meet safety standards. Proper use as per instructions ensures safety during operation.
